Even though the days are getting longer, and the sun is getting warmer, it is still technically springtime. Forget that next week leads into Memorial Day Weekend, and we will have the official start of summer movie season… by the calendar’s page, summer doesn’t actually start until June 20.
Just try telling a child in school (or my wife who is a teacher) that summer isn’t almost upon us.
It’s the perfect time to get your summer reading planned. Remember to check out my collection of books available in Kindle, on paperback, and as audiobooks via Audible. You still have some time.
As I announced last week, the work on ECHOES IN THE JEKYLL HOUSE is nearing completion, after a longer-than-expected stint in the editorial department. Look for more news on this one in the actual summer.
The collection of the first year of the BlockHeadZ, A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE BLOCKHEADZ, is also in development, and that should be ready to go on Kindle and in paperback by the BlockHeadZ anniversary in August. You’ll learn all about the comic strip’s backstory - from Eleanor Roosevelt and Snoop Dogg to bargain-basement adult superhero cosplay. Stay tuned!
(…also, apologies in advance for this week’s BlockHeadZ; we couldn’t resist…)
Finally, the new technothriller THEY HISS! is working through early editorial stages. That one should be ready to go by the fall… just in time for Halloween!
There’s lots more projects moving through the hopper in 2025!
*99 Shots are complete stories, new each week, totaling 99 words or less.
After Party by Kevin Carr
Sandy and Ron slid into their car seats. As Ron turned the key, Sandy peeled away the hand-written name badge from her blouse.
“Did you enjoy seeing all your high school friends?” she asked.
Ron rolled his eyes. “It was like Facebook in the flesh.”
“Oh come on,” Sandy said. “It was fun.”
The she winked at him and nudged him in the side. “I even liked meeting the women you said you had crushes on twenty years ago.”
Ron sighed and grinned. “Each one a dodged bullet,” he said.
Sandy smiled contently. “Let’s go home, honey.”
