THE MOTHER THING by Kevin Carr

Cody first saw the Mother Thing at his window two nights ago. He first noticed her eyes, which glowed a soft but not unpleasant green. He did not tell anyone because more than anything, he wanted his mother back. Even if the Mother Thing scared him a little.

He knew this was not his mother. Not really. She was gone forever, consumed by something in the dark he couldn’t remember.

But this wasn’t completely not her either. It felt like a part of his mother. And that is why he chose to go with the Mother Thing.
