We are knee-deep in March now, and now that the clocks have changed, that means Spring Break is just around the corner. As someone who has a wife teaching in one school district and a son going to school in another, we have the golden opportunity to go absolutely nowhere for vacation because the Spring Breaks simply don’t line up.
Sigh… well, more time for me to continue working on the publishing projects.
We are still waiting for the authorized release of my audiobook for the novelette NOT THE END, which is already available as a stand-alone Kindle ebook and as part of the 13 MORE TURNS horror anthology. I am hoping to announce its availability next week… just in time for some light reading during Spring Break (whenever that week might be for you).
The proofreading of ECHOES OF THE JEKYLL HOUSE is coming along slowly, but it will still take several months for the final edit and the development of the audiobook. Look for the online version, the paperback, and the audiobook for that hitting shelves later this year.
A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE BLOCKHEADZ is still in the planning stages but coming along. That should be available on the one-year anniversary of the debut of the BlockHeadZ comics.
Finally, I am working on a couple other fun projects, including a book inspired by the action stories of the 80s and 90s, as well as a choose-your-own-adventure style book looking to publish in 2026.
More to come!
*99 Shots are complete stories, new each week, totaling 99 words or less.
WHEN IN ROME by Kevin Carr
With so many men obsessing about the Roman Empire, an enterprising young coder developed a clever online tool called Dolus. It would take anyone’s vital data, crunch the numbers, and explain their role if they had been born in that time.
“You’d be dead,” was the most common answer. By plague, childhood disease, starvation, or violence. Or from just getting a splinter.
“You’d be a slave,” was the second-most common answer.
The third: “You’d only have half of your teeth.”
People stopped using Dolus within a week. Still, the enterprising young coder sold all their vital data for billions.
THE END
