For those who do not know much about my personal life, my wife is a teacher. She’s great at it, and she loves her job. (Well… she loves teaching, and she loves the kids. It’s the bureaucracy and political B.S. that she isn’t too fond of.)

She just finished school for the summer this past Friday, and while we have a ton of extra nonsense happening in our personal life, we are both ready to have some fun. Go on a vacation at some point, enjoy the nice weather, not being locked into a daily schedule.

But I am championing on through this Substack, offering some fun diversions to take you away from the extraneous nonsense happening in your life.

First, a reminder to check out my collection of books available in Kindle, on paperback, and as audiobooks via Audible. There’s still time to assemble a summer reading list.

ECHOES IN THE JEKYLL HOUSE is in the proofreading stages. Even after it’s ready for publication, we will be producing the audiobook for release alongside it. Look for it in the early fall.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE BLOCKHEADZ is coming along nicely with some new written content, brand new illustration, and a bizarre dose of humor that some might consider both brilliant and infantile. It will be available at the end of the summer on Kindle and in paperback for the first anniversary of the BlockHeadZ.

My technothriller THEY HISS! is going through a heavy revision, but it is shaping up to be a lot of fun, offering a cool throwback to the technothrillers of the 1990s. Look for it later in 2025.

And, as I mentioned last week, the audiobook for GOBBLE: A THANKSGIVING TALE OF THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE is now available on Audible. Or, if you have an Amazon Music Unlimited, you can ask your device, “Alexa, play GOBBLE by Kevin Carr,” to choose this as one of your free audiobooks for the month.

Hello, Future Calling by Kevin Carr

Nancy woke up with a blinding headache… again.

As she rubbed her temples, she knew she wasn’t the only person feeling this.

It had been happening to the entire planet. For the past six weeks, everyone appeared to be having the same dream. And they always woke up with the same headache.

Some psychologists tried to pass it off as mass hysteria, or mass hypnosis.

But last night, the dream was clear. A message could be heard. A message from the future: “Beware what you find comforting.”

Nancy did not know if that was a warning, or a distraction.
