DUPLICAT by Kevin Carr
Chris was crushed when Puddy Tat died. The cat was their world, and that loss was almost too much to overcome. So they fell into a deep depression.
The DupliCat service offered a replica. As the advertisement said, it would be a “near purr-fect” duplicate of their beloved companion.
Chris could not resist. They paid the hefty fee, and they knew it was artificial.
But this one still eats the food, and scratches at the door, and knocks things off the counter.
It was enough to ease their pain even though they knew Puddy Tat was gone forever.
