It’s hard to believe we are almost half-way through November, careening towards Christmas like an oncoming freight train. For those out there who celebrate NaNoWriMo, I wish you the best of luck finishing your project.

As Joyce opened the storage locker, tears came to her eyes. Her mother – a widow for 26 years – had passed away. Time to go through her stuff. This would take days, she knew.

She found a sweater, and it smelled of her mother. Joyce put it on and breathed in the scent.

She then saw several items sticking to her arm: a commemorative spoon… a doily… a recipe card…

And on her other arm. More things attached. More. And More.

The door slowly shut, making the haunting sigh her mother would make at the end of a long day.
