Happy Saint Patrick’s Day, everyone! Éirinn go brách!
This week is officially springtime, and things are starting to speed up for Silver Gecko. First, my zombie novelette NOT THE END has gone live on Audible. You can get it from the Audible site directly, or you can download via Amazon. Or, if you have an Amazon Music Unlimited account, just ask Alexa to play “Not the End by Kevin Carr,” and it will play automatically on your device.
In other publishing news, THE BRIEF HISTORY OF THE BLOCKHEADZ is starting to take form, with both comics and a written history of the comic strip and its development. Look for the mass market paperback being available at the end of the summer.
THE ECHOES IN THE JEKYLL HOUSE is coming along slowly but should be available this summer on Kindle, in paperback, and on audiobook.
While other short stories are still processing in the wings, the next novel in development is THEY HISS!, a Crichton-esque tribute to 90s cyberthrillers.
And that leaves us with the content for this Monday morning. Being Saint Patrick’s Day and all, I figured why not deliver some relevant content. Apologies to my kinsmen in Ireland. I know leprechauns are a bit of a pejorative stereotype, but they make for good fun in comics and speculative fiction.
Keep your eye on this space!
*99 Shots are complete stories, new each week, totaling 99 words or less.
POT OF GOLD by Kevin Carr
As Seamas opened his cottage’s door, he clutched the burlap sack. He would have to be clever.
Can’t be money, he thought. It can’t be selfish at all.
Seamas opened the door and slipped inside, then peered in the sack.
“Rug tú orm,” a tiny voice spoke. “Is dócha go dteastaíonn mo chuid óir uait.”
Fortunately, Seamas knew the old tongue.
“Not physical gold,” he replied. “But the Golden Rule. I want people to follow it.”
The wee person smiled and said, “Cliste.” He could do no mischief with this, and he approved for the good of the world.
THE END
